Dr. Janet Arndt
“Oh dear, oh dear, I’m late, I’m late! “ If you are feeling like the White Rabbit in Alice and Wonderland and managing time has you in a dither, come to this work shop to conquer your time management issues. The sharing and discussion of strategies to help you organize your day, classroom, and all that paperwork will provide stress relief and a new plan for getting through the day.

A3: . Literacy Through Art
Kathryn DiPietro
A picture is worth a thousand words. Come and learn some watercolor painting techniques that will lead to powerful writing. Be prepared to paint and write. Learn a great way to encourage reluctant writers to expand their vocabulary and find the joy in writing.

A4: Do You See What I See?
Tere Bowen-Irish
Look at visual perception, acuity and visual motor integration skills. Discuss the many factors that impact a child’s performance in literacy, success with written communication, or navigating one, two or 3 dimensional activities in their academic world. What is acuity and why is it important? Learn about the concepts of visual ability in the areas of figure ground, visual spatial, visual memory, visual sequential memory, visual discrimination, form constancy and visual closure. Discover how these skills can contribute to one’s ability to read, write, work independently and remember visual information to use for all kinds of tasks. Learn how to modify games, activities and curriculum.

B2: That’s Another Story
Donna Rosso and Jenny Corduck
“a sense of belonging and membership, positive social relationships and friendships, and development and learning to reach their full potential.” DEC/NAEYC. (2009) How do you create an inclusive environment for all children? Together we will explore the use of embedded interventions (environmental modifications and/or peer support) in inclusive early childhood classrooms. We will create tools you can use as you focus on and respond to the challenges faced each day in your work with young children with disabilities and their families.

B3: Spring through Fiction and Nonfiction Books
Carol Hartery
Introduce your children to our beautiful world through fiction and nonfiction books. Create your own fiction and nonfiction books in this make and take workshop about “spring things” and literally grow your children’s interests in books, language, science and nature. Springboard classroom activities to strengthen language arts skills through fiction children’s book author/illustrators Lois Ehlert and Jan Brett. Develop discovery-based thinking using nature photos, found objects and nonfiction books.

B4: Building, Blocks and Classic Stories
Patti Roka

Build a 3-d house that represents classic stories using a basic house structure, recycled materials, and very basic architectural techniques. Step through the door into a world of wonder that will guide teachers to see our favorite stories with more dimension, through the windows of a child’s world. Look and see who will become authors and architects!
